1. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to provide financial and moral support to teachers or their families in the event of death or permanent disability before retirement. This policy reflects the institution’s commitment to compassion, fairness, and responsibility toward teachers who dedicate their service to the madrasa.

2. Eligibility

This benefit applies to teachers who meet all of the following conditions:

  • Are officially employed by the madrasa as full-time or part-time teachers.
  • Have participated in the Teacher Retirement Contribution Program.
  • Have maintained good professional standing with the institution.

3. Death Benefit

If a teacher passes away during active service before retirement, the madrasa will provide the following benefits to the teacher’s legal guardian or family:

  1. The total amount contributed by the teacher to the retirement contribution programme.
  2. The matching contribution provided by the madrasa under that programme.
  3. Any additional financial assistance approved by the administration, depending on the institution’s financial capacity.

This support is provided as a gesture of institutional solidarity and compassion toward the teacher’s family.

4. Permanent Disability Benefit

If a teacher becomes permanently disabled and is no longer able to perform teaching duties:

The madrasa may provide the following benefits, subject to service tenure and administrative approval:

  • The total accumulated contributions made by the teacher; and
  • The matching contributions made by the madrasa under the retirement programme.

Additional assistance may be considered based on the institution’s financial ability and the teacher’s circumstances.

5. Determination of Disability

Permanent disability must be confirmed through:

  • Medical documentation from a recognised medical professional or specialist; and
  • Review by the madrasa administration and, where necessary, relevant committee members.

The administration may consult relevant experts before making a final decision regarding disability status and benefit eligibility.

6. Payment to Beneficiaries

Benefits under this policy will be provided to:

  • The teacher directly (in the case of disability); or
  • The teacher’s legal guardian, spouse, or designated family member in the event of death.

Appropriate legal or identity documentation may be required to verify the rightful beneficiaries before payment is released.

7. Institutional Support

In addition to financial benefits, the madrasa may also provide, where possible:

  • Community and social support for the teacher’s family.
  • Assistance from institutional welfare or zakat-based programmes.
  • Moral and spiritual support through the madrasa community.

These actions reflect Islamic values of brotherhood, compassion, and mutual responsibility.

8. Record Keeping

The madrasa administration will maintain accurate records of:

  • Teacher retirement contributions and matching amounts.
  • Beneficiary information and contact details.
  • Disability determinations and benefit approvals.
  • Death or disability benefit disbursements.

All financial assistance will be documented for transparency, accountability, and audit purposes.

9. Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed periodically by the Executive Committee and Permanent Committee to ensure that it remains fair, practical, and aligned with the madrasa’s financial capacity, Islamic values, and overall welfare framework for teachers.
