This policy provides a clear framework for Part-Time (Non-Residential) Teachers serving at Madinatul Uloom Madrasa & Orphanage. It follows good HR practice for Islamic, nonprofit institutions in Bangladesh while remaining firmly rooted in Islamic values.
1. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to define the roles, responsibilities, regulations, and benefits for part-time teachers who provide teaching services on a limited schedule without residential duties. This helps maintain academic quality, professionalism, and alignment with the madrasa's mission.
2. Definition of Part-Time Teacher
A Part-Time Teacher is an instructor who teaches specific subjects or classes for limited hours or specific days of the week, and does not reside in the madrasa.
Part-time teachers may be engaged in programmes such as:
- Noorani Qaida and Nazira.
- Hifz supervision.
- Tajweed classes.
- Islamic Studies.
- Academic support subjects (Bangla, English, Mathematics, etc.).
3. Recruitment and Appointment
Part-time teachers are selected based on academic qualifications, teaching ability, Islamic character and ethics, and availability that fits the madrasa timetable.
3.1 Minimum Qualifications
Noorani Teachers
- Alim or equivalent Islamic education.
- Sound Tajweed and Qur’an recitation.
Hifz Supervisors
- Hafiz-ul-Qur’an preferred.
- Strong Tajweed and Hifz supervision skills.
General Subject Teachers
- Minimum Higher Secondary or Bachelor’s degree.
- Ability to teach children effectively and patiently.
4. Recruitment Process
- Announcement of part-time teaching need or vacancy.
- Submission of application and supporting documents.
- Interview and teaching demonstration (where applicable).
- Review and approval by the Executive Committee.
- Issuance of appointment letter or service agreement.
5. Roles and Responsibilities
Part-time teachers are responsible for the following areas:
Academic Duties
- Teach assigned classes according to the approved curriculum.
- Ensure student engagement, understanding, and participation.
- Support Qur’an memorisation, recitation, or revision where applicable.
- Conduct periodic assessments and provide feedback.
Institutional Responsibilities
- Maintain discipline in the classroom.
- Follow madrasa policies and Islamic codes of conduct.
- Report student progress or concerns to administration when requested.
6. Working Schedule
Part-time teachers will follow the class schedule assigned by the madrasa administration.
Typical part-time teaching hours may include:
- Morning sessions.
- Afternoon sessions.
- Evening classes.
Teachers must arrive on time and complete assigned classes according to the schedule.
7. Compensation
Part-time teachers will receive compensation based on one or a combination of the following:
- Hourly teaching rate.
- Per-class payment.
- Monthly honorarium.
The payment structure will be determined by the Executive Committee and clearly communicated at the time of appointment.
8. Leave and Absence
Part-time teachers must inform the administration in advance if they are unable to attend scheduled classes.
- Prior approval is required for foreseeable absences.
- Replacement arrangements may be required for key classes.
- Frequent or unexplained absence may lead to a review or discontinuation of the appointment.
9. Professional Conduct
Part-time teachers must:
- Maintain Islamic character and professional ethics.
- Treat students with respect, mercy, and fairness.
- Avoid all forms of physical, verbal, or emotional abuse.
- Maintain modest, appropriate dress and behaviour.
10. Performance Review
Part-time teachers may be evaluated periodically based on:
- Teaching effectiveness.
- Student progress and feedback.
- Punctuality and attendance.
- Professional and Islamic behaviour.
Continuation or renewal of appointment depends on satisfactory performance.
11. Termination of Service
Part-time teaching arrangements may be terminated if:
- Institutional needs or structure change.
- Teacher performance is unsatisfactory.
- Teacher violates institutional policies or code of conduct.
- Both parties mutually agree to discontinue the service.
Termination will normally be communicated with reasonable notice, except in cases of serious misconduct.
12. Policy Review
This policy may be revised periodically by the Executive Committee and Permanent Committee to ensure effective administration and alignment with institutional goals, regulatory changes, and best practices in Islamic and nonprofit education.
