Daily Adab & Tarbiyah Program for Students

Daily manners, character-building, and spiritual development framework for students of Madinatul Uloom Madrasa & Orphanage.

1. Purpose

The purpose of the Adab & Tarbiyah Program is to nurture students with strong Islamic character, discipline, and moral values. The program ensures that students develop not only academically but also spiritually and socially according to the teachings of Islam. It emphasises good manners (Adab), ethical behaviour (Akhlaq), and spiritual development (Tarbiyah).

2. Objectives

The Daily Adab & Tarbiyah Program aims to:

  • Instil Islamic manners and discipline in students.
  • Encourage respect for teachers, parents, and elders.
  • Promote honesty, responsibility, and compassion.
  • Strengthen students’ connection with the Qur’an and authentic Islamic teachings.
  • Develop students into morally responsible members of society.

3. Daily Adab Training

Students will be guided and encouraged to practise the following manners on a daily basis:

  • Respecting teachers, elders, and parents.
  • Greeting others with “Assalamu Alaikum”.
  • Speaking politely, truthfully, and respectfully.
  • Helping fellow students and showing cooperation.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and personal hygiene.
  • Keeping classrooms, dormitories, and surroundings clean.
  • Being truthful, trustworthy, and responsible.

Teachers and supervisors will model and reinforce these behaviours as part of daily routines and interactions.

4. Masnun Duas Memorization

Students will memorise and practise essential daily duas, including:

  • Dua before eating and after eating.
  • Dua before sleeping and after waking up.
  • Dua for entering and leaving the house.
  • Dua before entering the bathroom.
  • Dua after leaving the bathroom.
  • Dua for entering the mosque.

Students will also be encouraged to understand the meanings and context of these duas so that they can apply them with awareness and sincerity.

5. Salah and Spiritual Discipline

Students will be trained to:

  • Perform the five daily prayers in congregation.
  • Learn and practise correct Wudu and Salah procedures.
  • Recite short Surahs and duas used in Salah.
  • Develop punctuality, humility, and khushu (focus) in prayer.

Congregational prayer is an essential part of the Tarbiyah program and will be integrated into the daily routine.

6. Character Development (Akhlaq)

Teachers will conduct regular short lessons and reminders on Islamic character, including:

  • Honesty and integrity.
  • Patience, self-control, and avoiding anger.
  • Kindness and mercy toward others.
  • Respect and obedience to parents and teachers.
  • Responsibility, accountability, and keeping promises.

Stories from the lives of the Prophets, Sahabah, and righteous scholars will be used to inspire and demonstrate practical examples of good character.

7. Weekly Tarbiyah Sessions

In addition to daily guidance, the madrasa will conduct weekly Tarbiyah sessions focusing on topics such as:

  • Islamic moral teachings and virtues.
  • Personal development and self-improvement.
  • Community responsibility and helping others.
  • The importance of knowledge, sincerity, and good company.

These sessions help strengthen students’ understanding of Islamic values and their application in daily life.

8. Role of Teachers

Teachers are central to the Adab & Tarbiyah Program. They are responsible for:

  • Demonstrating exemplary Islamic behaviour and Akhlaq.
  • Guiding students with patience, wisdom, and compassion.
  • Encouraging positive habits and correcting mistakes gently.
  • Addressing behavioural issues with constructive guidance, not harshness.

Teachers serve as role models and must embody the values they teach.

9. Monitoring and Evaluation

The administration and teachers will monitor students’ development in:

  • Behaviour and discipline.
  • Participation in Salah and Tarbiyah activities.
  • Respect shown toward teachers, staff, and peers.

Students showing exemplary behaviour and character may receive recognition, encouragement, or awards to reinforce positive development.

10. Policy Review

This Daily Adab & Tarbiyah Program will be reviewed periodically by the Academic Committee and Executive Committee to ensure that it continues to effectively support student character development and remains aligned with Islamic principles, educational best practices, and the goals of Madinatul Uloom Madrasa & Orphanage.
