Tajweed Rules Syllabus
Granular syllabus for Tajweed basics: Noon/Meem Sakin, Madd, and other core rules for Noorani Level 2.

Syllabus Structure (Units 1–4)
The Tajweed syllabus is integrated with Nazira practice and is taught practically using examples from Juz Amma and other short surahs.
Unit 1: Revision of Makharij & Basic Rules
Brief review of letter articulation points and key characteristics introduced in Noorani Qaida.
- Quick review of throat, tongue, lips, and nasal letters.
- Correction of common mistakes (e.g., mixing ص/س, ق/ك, ظ/ذ).
- Short drill sessions using selected words before entering detailed rules.
- Mastery: student can recite example words with clear Makharij when prompted.
Unit 2: Noon Sakin & Tanween Rules
Understanding when Noon Sakin/Tanween is shown, merged, hidden, or changed.
- Izhar: clear Noon sound before throat letters (ء، ه، ع، ح، غ، خ).
- Ikhfa: hidden Noon sound with Ghunna before 15 letters (practice with examples from Juz Amma).
- Idgham: merging Noon into following letter (with/without Ghunna groups).
- Iqlab: changing Noon sound to Meem before ب, using classic examples (e.g., أَنْبِئْهُمْ).
- Mastery: student applies each rule correctly when teacher points to ayat containing it.
Unit 3: Meem Sakin Rules
Rules specific to Meem with sukoon in words and between words.
- Ikhfa Shafawi: light hiding of Meem before ب with Ghunna (e.g., تَرْمِيهِمْ بِحِجَارَةٍ).
- Idgham Shafawi: merging Meem into Meem (e.g., لَكُمْ مَا).
- Izhar Shafawi: clear Meem in all other cases.
- Practice through selected lines from surahs like Al‑Fil, Al‑Humazah, and others.
- Mastery: student consistently produces correct lip closure and Ghunna where needed.
Unit 4: Madd Rules (Basic)
Applying simple elongations (Madd) commonly found in Juz Amma surahs.
- Review of natural Madd (2 counts) on ا، و، ي after matching vowels.
- Introduction to Madd Munfasil and Muttasil using age‑appropriate examples.
- Practice counting beats softly with fingers while reciting.
