Quran Revision (Previous Juz/Rukoo) Syllabus
Granular syllabus for systematic revision of previously read juz and rukoo's in Noorani Level 3.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this component, the student should be able to:
- Revise assigned previous portions (juz/rukoo's) with correct Tajweed and fluency.
- Follow a clear revision cycle so no portion is neglected for long.
- Self‑correct or accept correction on common mistakes (Makharij, Madd, waqf).
- Build a habit of daily revision that supports future Hifz or continued Nazira.
Syllabus Structure (Phases 1–4)
Revision is scheduled in the same block as the new lesson so that students strengthen retention and apply Tajweed consistently across familiar and new text.
Phase 1: Yesterday's Lesson & Last Week's Portion
Immediate and short‑term revision to fix errors before they become habits.
- Every day: student revises the exact portion taught as "new lesson" the previous day.
- Once or twice per week: revise the full rukoo' or small set of pages completed in the past week.
- Teacher listens briefly and notes repeated errors for targeted correction in new-lesson time.
- Mastery: student can re‑read yesterday's and last week's portion with no more than 1–2 corrections.
Phase 2: Rolling Juz/Rukoo Cycle
A fixed cycle so that each previously completed juz or set of rukoo's is revisited on a schedule.
- Maintain a simple revision roster: e.g., Monday = Juz 30, Tuesday = selected from Juz 29, etc.
- Or rotate by rukoo's: e.g., 2–3 rukoo's per day from different surahs already covered.
- Ensure each completed juz/rukoo is revised at least once every 2–3 weeks.
- Mastery: student completes the day's revision list within the allocated time without rushing.
Phase 3: Individual Listening & Error Log
Teacher hears each student on revision portion and keeps a short record of weaknesses.
- During revision block: call students one by one (or in small groups) to read ½–1 page of revision.
- Note recurring mistakes (e.g., specific letter, Madd length, Idgham) in a simple register.
- Use 1–2 minutes of new-lesson or revision time for a quick drill on that weakness.
- Mastery: over time, frequency of same error decreases for each student.
Phase 4: Full‑Juz Revision (Periodic)
Occasionally dedicating the full revision block to one complete juz (e.g., Juz Amma) for stamina and fluency.
- Once every 1–2 weeks: assign "revision day" where the entire block is one juz (or half juz) revision.
- Students can read in sequence (each reads a page) or teacher assigns different sections.
- Emphasize steady pace and correct waqf; avoid rushing to finish.
- Mastery: student can read through a full juz with consistent quality and minimal correction.
Recommended Daily Time Allocation
For the Quran revision (previous juz/rukoo) block (around 30–40 minutes) in Noorani Level 3:
- 5–10 minutes: silent or soft revision by whole class (yesterday's + roster portion).
- 15–20 minutes: individual or small‑group listening; teacher corrects and logs errors.
- 5–10 minutes: quick Tajweed drill on one common weakness, or continue listening.
- 2–3 minutes: assign next day's revision portion and remind adab‑ul‑Qur'an.
