Bangla Reading & Sentence Building Syllabus
Granular syllabus for reading short paragraphs, building sentences, and expanding Bangla vocabulary for Noorani Level 2.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this component, the student should be able to:
- Read short Bangla paragraphs (3–5 sentences) with correct pronunciation and fluency.
- Build simple sentences using given words (subject + verb + object/complement).
- Use thematic vocabulary (fruits, animals, family, days, places) in spoken and written form.
- Answer simple comprehension questions about a short passage read aloud or silently.
Syllabus Structure (Phases 1–4)
This syllabus builds on Level 1 Bangla (alphabet and rhymes). It can be spread across the Noorani Level 2 year with daily reading and sentence practice.
Phase 1: Word Families & Thematic Vocabulary
Expanding vocabulary in clear themes so students can use words in sentences.
- Fruits, vegetables, and common foods (e.g., আম, কলা, পানি, ভাত).
- Animals and birds (e.g., গরু, ছাগল, মুরগি, পাখি).
- Family and body parts (e.g., বাবা, মা, ভাই, চোখ, হাত).
- Days, months, and simple numbers in Bangla (১–১০, সোমবার, বৈশাখ).
- Mastery: student can name and read 20–30 words from each theme when shown pictures or words.
Phase 2: Simple Sentence Patterns
Building 3–5 word sentences using subject + verb + object/complement.
- Model sentences: "আমি ভাত খাই।", "বাবা বাজারে যান।", "মা বই পড়েন।"
- Fill-in-the-blank: give subject and verb, student adds object (e.g., আমি ___ খাই).
- Rearrange words: give shuffled words, student writes a correct sentence.
- Mastery: student can write 2–3 correct simple sentences from a given set of words.
Phase 3: Short Paragraph Reading
Reading 3–5 sentence passages with familiar vocabulary and simple structure.
- Use graded readers or teacher-written paragraphs (e.g., "আমার পরিবার", "একটি গরু").
- Read aloud in class; then silent reading with a simple comprehension question.
- Focus on fluency: minimal stopping, correct joining of words (যুক্তবর্ণ where applicable).
- Mastery: student reads a new short paragraph with fewer than 3 pronunciation errors.
Phase 4: Comprehension & Short Answers
Answering who/what/where/when questions about a passage in Bangla.
- Teacher reads or student reads; then 2–3 questions (e.g., "গল্পে কে ছিল?", "কোথায় গেল?").
- Answers can be one word or a short phrase initially; later full sentences.
- Use Islamic/moral short stories where possible to link with Akhlaq.
- Mastery: student answers at least 2 out of 3 questions correctly after one reading.
Recommended Daily Time Allocation
For the Bangla reading & sentence building block (around 30–40 minutes) in Noorani Level 2:
- 5–10 minutes: vocabulary drill or revision of previous day's words/sentences.
- 10–15 minutes: new sentence pattern or new paragraph (read together, then individually).
- 10 minutes: sentence-building activity (fill-in, rearrange, or short writing).
- 5 minutes: comprehension Q&A or recap of the lesson.
